Company
The history of the Poschiavo mill is one of tradition, passion and innovation, but above all it is one of people, who have contributed with tenacity and commitment to the continuity, success and growth of a small suburban business.
The mill originally belonged to the Augustinian nuns of Poschiavo. Towards the mid-19th Century it was bought by Hans Guler. In 1872 Samuel Fisler (1834-1895), the husband of a Guler family’s descendent, acquired the building. At the beginning of the 20th Century, the construction of the Bernina Railway and of the power plants drew thousands of workers to Valposchiavo, thus increasing the need for food. With his great entrepreneurship, his son Samuele Fisler decides to enlarge the mill adding a small pasta factory. In 1911 the joint-stock company was founded.

After Samuel and his son Samuele Fisler, the company has been led by Samuele (1903-1976) and Enrico Fisler (1908-1985) till 1970, and by Arno Fisler (1932-2019) till 2002. Davide Fisler (1970) is the current director, representing the 5th generation of the Fisler family at the head of the Molino e Pastificio SA.
A 300 kg load capacity elevator is installed.
A small power plant is built, providing light and mechanical force.
The first “truck” is bought and carried to the factory drawn by a horse, through Poschiavo’s main square
( at the time, a driving ban still applied in the municipality ).

Responding to the increasing demand, a new pasta machinery is bought and put into operation.
The 400-ton concrete silo is built, divided into ten compartments.
A small hydroelectric power station is installed.
The machinery, mechanically powered so far, is then operated by hydroelectrically powered engines.
A violent flood completely destroys the plants.
With support and dedication, they can be restored and the activity can start again.

A major improvement of the company is developed and carried out with a new building featuring a modern pasta manufacturing line, a warehouse, and a small analysis laboratory.
